‘The Outer Ones‘ sees REVOCATION pushing both the death metal and progressive elements of their signature sound harder than ever. “I knew that I wanted to go in a darker direction, and this is our most death metal album to date,” states vocalist/guitarist Dave Davidson. “Sometimes when death metal bands go down the prog route they lose some of that edge, but we wanted to keep the aggression at the forefront of what we do while still pushing our boundaries.” Moving away from the societal and historical themes that informed 2016’s ‘Great is Our Sin‘, this time Davidson has immersed himself in the fantastic, evoking one of the great writers of the sci-fi/horror genre. “The title is my ode to H.P. Lovecraft and the entities of pure cosmic horror that rule that universe he created. Since the new music we were writing was so evil and spacey in sections it seemed to be the right title to fit the overall vibe. But while the lyrical content is largely influenced by such writings, in every allegory there is of course some reflection of the real world, so I enjoy writing in a way that could have one overlaying meaning and then another deeper, symbolic meaning as well.”
ANTI-FLAG release video for “American Attraction”
Pittsburgh political punk band Anti-Flag just premiered their new music video for “American Attraction”. The song comes off of their recently announced album American Reckoning, set to be released on Spinefarm Records on September 28th. The album features acoustic versions of songs from their past two albums, as well as covers of songs that inspired them.
The video was filmed in the band’s hometown of Pittsburgh, PA, and directed by Josh Massie and Anti-Flag. Pre-orders for American Reckoning are available via Spinefarm Records. American Reckoning was also recorded in Pittsburgh, PA, and mixed and mastered by long time Anti-Flag engineer Justin Francis. The album’s artwork (see below) was designed by Doug Dean, who also did the artwork for both American Spring and American Fall.
American Reckoning, the new acoustic album from Pittsburgh political punk band Anti-Flag, strips down some of the band’s latest hits to get to the heart of the message. The album features acoustic versions of songs off of their last two albums, American Spring (2015) and American Fall (2017), as well as covers of some of the classics that inspired them. By arranging these songs together, American Reckoning functions as an account of one of the country’s most tumultuous political times told by some of music’s sharpest political minds.
The American series, all released on Spinefarm Records, showcases why Anti-Flag is recognized as a staple in punk rock. Known for their left-wing politics, focusing on anti-war activism, imperialism, class struggle, human rights, and various sociopolitical sentiments, Anti-Flag have proven themselves as both dedicated activists and accomplished musicians since forming in 1993. Decades of strong political ideals and rousing punk rock songs have allowed the band to assemble a devoted fan base of likeminded individuals all across the world. THE ORDER OF APOLLYON premiere new track “Rites Of The Immolator”
French blackened death metal unit, THE ORDER OF APOLLYON, reveal full detailssurrounding their recently announced studio album “Moriah”, due out October 26thon Agonia Records. Replete with artwork from Vincent Lécuyer, the band’s third installment – cut by a reconfigured line-up – will include eight new songs. The first single is available for streaming now, in the form of a lyric video. Listen to “Rites Of The Immolator”:
Co-founder, guitarist, vocalist and producer, BST, commented: “This third full-length release is without a doubt the most coherent and mature work we’ve ever put out. The fact that we have had for the first time in the band’s history a stable line-up of devoted individuals with similar goals made this possible, and filled the production process with powerful creative energy”.
