WOM Features – Chaos Doctrine Unveils “Bayonet” And Glimpses New Album – Exclusive Premiere
Johannesburg veterans Chaos Doctrine have long pushed the boundaries of extreme metal, continuously reimagining their sonic assault across sub-genres. But now, they are back to doing what they do best: pure and relentless industrialised thrash metal, packed in two explosive singles. Last week we showed you, firsthand, the bulldozer cover of Metallica‘s “Leper Messiah”. – you can check it out here. Now it’s time to unveil “Bayonet” that you can check below in another World of Metal exclusive premiere.
Clocking in at just over 2 minutes of 210 BPM chaos, Bayonet instantly drags you into WWI trench warfare. Moments later, it is all over. This track is relentless, abrasive, and utterly devastating. It delivers carefully engineered old-school thrash with the unmistakable Chaos Doctrine veneer. Brace yourself.
Bayonet is not just a new single – it signals that a new Chaos Doctrine album is on the horizon – “It is no secret that we are always writing, and our next full-length album is already close to completion – about 90% written and 70% recorded. But we wanted to deliver something in between, something special to bridge the gap between Bellum (2024), The Chaos Chronicles Volumes II & III (2025), and the next full-length release.”
That something special is Unholy Empire: bringing together the best of what you expect from Chaos Doctrine, along with a few new twists and turns – including the band’s first-ever thematic trilogy, a few remixes and live tracks, and a cover or two. More news soon.
